Cape Town - Highly-rated midfielder N'Golo Kante says he rejected a move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) because he is enjoying his time with Chelsea.

The French World Cup winner was strongly linked with a move to the Ligue 1 champions, who were keen to bring the former Leicester City star back to his homeland and bolster their midfield.

PSG boss Thomas Tuchel is thought to be a big admirer of Kante and was looking to get a deal over the line for the midfielder, who made his name in Ligue 1 with Caen before making the switch to the Foxes in 2015.

However, now enjoying life in London, Kante says he was happier staying in England and decided against a return across the Channel over the summer.

"Sometimes you don't really know where you want to go, but you know what you already have," Kante told French TV station Canal+.

"I knew I was at Chelsea and I felt good at Chelsea. On top of that, it was a footballing decision.

"I felt good in London and I felt happy in this project and therefore I am happy to stay here."

Chelsea have impressed under new manager Frank Lampard this season, while the Blues are also looking to progress into the knockout stages of the Champions League this term.

It's highly unlikely PSG would be successful if they were to try and make a move again for Kante in the January transfer window, but they could be tempted next summer.
