Kane injury has Spurs, England worried

Cape Town - England striker Harry Kane could be out for several weeks after he suffered an ankle injury during Tottenham Hotspurs 4-1 win over Bournemouth on Sunday.

Kane went off after 30 minutes after colliding with Bournemouth keeper Asmir Begovic and badly twisting his ankle.

He left the field and went straight down the tunnel.

The 24-year-old hitman was later seen leaving the Vitality stadium on crutches with his foot in a protective boot.

The injury raises concerns that Kane could miss the final few weeks of Spurs season while also putting his participation in the summer’s World Cup in doubt.

"I hope it is not a big issue," said Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

"We are concerned but need to wait."

Spurs face Swansea in their FA Cup quarter-final on Saturday, while England play the Netherlands and Italy in friendlies later this month.

"It's the same ankle he suffered with before. He landed and twisted his ankle. He's positive, he's happy with the victory for the team,” added the Pochettino.

Kane missed 14 matches last season with two separate injuries to the same ankle.

The striker has scored 35 goals for Spurs so far this season.
