Jenas: Guardiola would also struggle at Manchester United

Cape Town - Jermaine Jenas believes the main problem at Manchester United is their lack of vision, not the job being done by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Red Devils were beaten 1-0 at struggling Newcastle on Sunday and their only victory in their last five outings in all competitions was a penalty shoot-out success over League One side Rochdale in the Carabao Cup.

United have claimed just nine points from their opening eight games in the Premier League and are 12th in the table, 15 points behind leaders Liverpool.

And Jenas thinks that even Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola would fail to get the current group of players into the top four.

"The biggest problem for Manchester United is not necessarily Ole," Jenas told the Daily Express. "It is that the club doesn't have a vision.

"They have gone for quick-fix star players, quick-fix star managers as well. None of those things have worked.

"Now they are staring complete confusion in the face as to what to do with the football club.

"On the pitch, it is so mediocre, but I find it really hard to blame the players. Pep Guardiola could coach this group and they wouldn't get into the top four.

"They are doing their best. They are what they are. A bunch of players being heavily weighed down by the badge, the Manchester United history.

"They are struggling to live up to the standards set years ago and I am not sure that is their fault."
