Cape Town - Sean Dyche has given permission to Phil Jagielka to train with his Burnley squad in the off-season following his release from Everton.
The Clarets boss has opened the door to the 36-year-old former England international defender to maintain his fitness levels with the squad in pre-season training as he assesses his future.
Jagielka boasts a vast experience of playing in the Premier League after 12 years at Goodison Park, where he made 385 appearances, while he also made almost 300 appearances at first club Sheffield United.
A new centre-half is not Dyche’s priority at the moment so it is unlikely that Jagielka will be offered a contract at Turf Moor, although that situation might change if current defender James Tarkowski is lured away in this transfer window.
At the moment Glasgow duo Rangers and Celtic look set to scrap it out to sign the player on a free transfer at some point in the window.
