Iheanacho set for West Ham switch, says agent

Cape Town - Kelechi Iheanacho's agent claims that West Ham have beaten Everton and West Bromwich Albion to the player's signature and that the move is all but complete.

The Nigeria international has struggled to break back into the Manchester City first XI following Pep Guardiola’s purchase of Gabriel Jesus and the presence of star striker Sergio Aguero. And has been linked with a move to all three clubs.

However, according to his agent, the Londoners have beaten their Premier League rivals to his signature.

Iheanacho impressed in his first season at the Etihad Stadium last year, scoring 15 times in his 35 appearances under Manuel Pellegrini, but struggled to take advantage of the opportunities handed him by Guardiola, scoring only seven in 29 matches.

Now, despite the player claiming recently that he would prefer to remain with the former English champions, his agent told Own Goal Nigeria that a move to the London Stadium is imminent and that the 20-year old will not consider a move away from the Premier League.

"Talks with West Ham are very advanced I must confess and barring any last minute hiccup he will end up joining them," the agent said. "If not them then any other team in England but not outside England.

"He is not interested in a move away from England for now. He is two years away from getting his papers as a citizen, so moving away from England at this time is a non-starter particularly as they are interested in him from England.

"That said, offers have come in from outside England, but his immediate priority is to stay in England, reasons why the offer from West Ham ticks the right box." he added.

The transfer will reportedly happen for a fee of £20m and it is expected that Guardiola will insist on the new contract containing a buyback clause.
