Holland: Conte won't make Inter move

Cape Town - Chelsea assistant manager Steve Holland has quelled speculation that Antonio Conte is Inter Milan-bound, insisting that the Italian manager is committed to the English champions.

Holland, who himself will be bidding farewell to Stamford Bridge following his appointment to Gareth Southgate’s England management team, believes that speculation linking Conte to Inter is unlikely to be fulfilled this coming season.

The Italian tactician, who vacated his position as the manager of the Italy national team following their excellent performance in the 2016 European Championship, was an instant success at the London club, managing to get the best out of a squad that struggled the previous season and win the Premier League by a relatively comfortable seven-point margin.

Rumours over his future in England started when the 47-year-old admitted in an interview with Italian TV show Emigratis in April that his heart will always be in Italy and that he would consider an offer from a Serie A club if one came in the future.

"The speculation is normal when a manager has had the success that Antonio has had,” Holland told talkSPORT.

"When you think back to the success he had at Juventus and the great job he did with Italy in the last European Championship and add to that the success he has had in his first season in England, it is normal that there will be attention.

"There has been a lot of Chinese money that has gone into Inter so it is a club that whoever is at the helm will start to make significant progress and challenge more than they have done in recent years.

“It is a natural consequence, but I would be very surprised if Antonio isn’t at Chelsea next season."
