Hiddink confirms advisory role at Chelsea

Cape Town - Chelsea's interim manager, Guus Hiddink, has revealed he will stay at Stamford Bridge in an advisory role after being replaced at the Stamford Bridge helm by Antonio Conte.

Conte will replace the Dutchman following Italy's Euro 2016 campaign in France, with the 69-year-old coach having steered the Blues to a 10th-place finish in the Premier League in what was his second spell at the club.

However, Hiddink will stay on at the Premier League outfit, and says he has already spoken to former Chelsea players Didier Drogba and Petr Cech about the possibility of return to Stamford Bridge once they hang up their boots.

In an interview with Fox Sports Netherlands' Tafel met Kees, he said: "I have spoken with Didier Drogba. I spoke with Petr Cech. These are legends.

"They have had much impact here. Once they are really finished their playing career, they can be of great value to the club, such as assistant or scout."

And the former Netherlands coach also outlined his vision for the club, saying he would be looking to put more focus on fostering the club's up-and coming players.

"You often see that the young players are not always easy to link up with the first team," he added.

"You have to use them through sparingly, otherwise they can end up burnt out.

"I already did that with Bertrand Traore and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, but it needs to happen more often."
