Henry wants 'Big Guns' to wake up

Cape Town - Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry believes that the English Premiership ‘Big Guns’ will to sooner or later need to make a statement in the title charge.

Following the results of the weekend, the Frenchman says that the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea need to show the lesser known teams a thing or two about top flight football.

Henry's comments comes after Chelsea slumped to a 1-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth while Stoke surprised Manchester City. Newcastle United ended Liverpool’s winning streak and Manchester United were held to a goalless draw at Old Trafford.

"At some point the big guns need to come out and say 'hang on a minute, this our league' and they need to make a statement," Henry said on SkySports.

"You can't have Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, City, United, whoever, acting the way they are acting. They need to come back and strong.

"I understand that the 'lesser sides' are closing the gap but [the big guns] have to do better, way better, find some consistency.

"That is why, for me, ultimately, three of the teams out of four are struggling in Europe."
