Henderson excited to have Sturridge back

Cape Town - Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson believes the return of Daniel Sturridge is a huge boost to the team, ahead of a busy festive period.

The striker came off the bench against Everton on Monday to help create Sadio Mane's winning strike in the 94th minute.

The England international had been out of contention for the Reds' last five games due to a calf injury, and Henderson is delighted to have him back.

"It's massive," Henderson told the Liverpool Echo.

"Both him and Emre (Can) coming on - two brilliant players coming back from injury - shows the squad depth. I thought they were brilliant when they came on.

"I am sure the Everton players looking at those two coming on wouldn't have enjoyed that last 15 minutes. They wouldn't have liked seeing those two come on.

"Daniel came up with a bit of magic for the goal and he is a huge player for us."
