Cape Town - Germany international Jonas Hector has revealed that he is committed to Bundesliga outfit FC Köln, despite reported interest from English Premier League side Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp has signed six players in the transfer market thus far in Joel Matip, Loris Karius, Sadio Mane, Ragnar Klavan, Alex Manninger and Georginio Wijnaldum.
Italian football journalist Emanuele Giulianelli reported that the Anfield-based club were keen on sealing the services of Hector. However, the 26-year-old has made it clear that he wants to see out the remainder of his contract with FC Köln.
"I never said anything to the contrary, so nothing stands in the way. Don't rule [a contract extension out]. We will clarify the issue internally," he told Bild.
"There is no stress, because my contract runs until 2018. I'm sitting here. If I want to go, I would stress the need not to do this [interview]."
Hector, who started in all six of Germany's 2016 European Championship fixtures, has resumed training for the Bundesliga outfit and will be looking to help his side improve on their ninth-place finish in the league last season.
