Kai Havertz open to Manchester United move

Midfielder Kai Havertz is reportedly open to the possibility of joining Manchester United next season.

Havertz has been heavily linked with a move to United in a deal worth around £50 million - a fraction of what Bayer Leverkusen would likely want.

Liverpool and Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in the 20-year-old, while Manchester City are monitoring developments.

With the Premier League perhaps the most viable destination in a transfer window impacted by the current global pandemic, the Manchester Evening News claims the forward sees England 'as a very realistic option'.

He is 'open' to joining Manchester United, who have been 'impressed by his recent performances', in particular.

While Havertz 'values the trust' Leverkusen have placed in him by giving him such a prominent first-team role, he 'isn't fazed about the prospect of moving abroad'.

The German international is also 'mindful' of ensuring he is playing regularly, so as to ensure his place at next summer's European Championships.

Leverkusen assistant coach Marcel Daum offered suitors potential hope earlier this week when discussing the player's future.

"The situation with coronavirus is so strange and so complicated that it's still open that he will leave us," he said.

"I don't know what will happen, but at Bayer he has the right place to develop his strengths and improve. The only thing I know is that Bayer won't sell him for a cheap fee.

"Everyone is asking about Kai Havertz. If you see him play it tells you everything. For me, he has the elegance of Zidane. If you see his movement, he’s very elegant, he's always calm, he has great passing ability."
