Hadergjonaj signs permanent Huddersfield deal

Cape Town - Huddersfield Town have turned Florent Hadergjonaj's loan stay at the club into a permanent move by activating a clause in his contract.

The 23-year-old Switzerland international defender joined the Terriers from relegated Bundesliga club FC Ingolstadt 04 on a season-long loan at the beginning of the current campaign.

He has gone onto make 21 appearances in all competitions, and was rewarded for his efforts, with Huddersfield paying his former side an undisclosed fee to make the move permanent.

Hadergjonaj is expected to sign a new three-year deal at the end of the season, with an option of a fourth season.

Terriers head coach David Wagner revealed his delight at being able to tie Hadergjonaj down to a permanent deal.

He said: "We knew that Flo would offer great competition for the right-back position and I think his first seven months at Huddersfield Town have shown why he is so highly-rated in Germany.

"As we expected, his characteristics have been perfect for our style of play and his performances have really improved game by game for us. He is also a great guy who has fitted into our dressing room perfectly.

"We must also remember that he is only 23 years old, so he has plenty of space to improve further too."
