Cape Town - Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hailed the "exceptional" Yaya Toure, but is unsure about the midfielder's future beyond this season.
The Ivory Coast star had fallen out of favour with Guardiola following his arrival at the Etihad Stadium as Manuel Pellegrini's replacement during the off-season.
However, Toure has looked impressive since making his first Premier League appearance of the campaign for City a month ago, with his brace securing a 2-1 win at Crystal Palace.
The 33-year-old, who is set to enter the final six months of his Citizens contract in January, has earned praise from his manager after shining in the 2-1 victory against Arsenal on Sunday.
Guardiola could give Toure an extended run in the first team due to Ilkay Gundogan's injury, but the Spaniard could shed no light on the future plans of the four-time African Footballer of the Year.
"I have no answer to that question," Guardiola replied when asked if Toure would be handed a new deal. "I know he finishes his contract. Now we have time to discuss that.
"What I am impressed by most is his huge quality. He looks like a boy. He played awesome. It is not in terms of when he has the ball but the personality.
"Yaya plays at that level because he is fit and focused. He is an exceptional player."
