Gotze edging closer to Liverpool deal - reports

Cape Town - Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp's reunion with Mario Gotze is edging close as Merseyside club are in talks with Bayern Munich.

According to the Daily Star, Liverpool are in advanced talks with Budesliga side in hopes of striking a £20m deal.

The midfielder has been struggling to find game time under Pep Guardiola at Bayern and has been rumoured to wanting to quit the club.

The 23-year-old scored the winning goal for Germany against Argentina in the 2014 FIFA World Cup and has four Bundesliga titles to his name.

Reports suggest that Bayern do not see the midfielder in the club's long-term future and the likeliness of Liverpool penning a deal seems legit at this point.

While signing Gotze would create fierce competition for the Reds, it is Liverpool's defensive issues which have cost them dearly this season.

Many expect Klopp to make wholesale changes next season as he slowly attempts to invigorate five times European champions.

Meanwhile, Liverpool welcome Stoke City to Anfield on Sunday, April 10.

Kick-off is at 17:00.
