Galatasaray target one of two Chelsea defenders

Cape Town - Turkish giants Galatasaray are hoping to make a signing from Chelsea this week, according to a report in Turkey.

Gala are locked in talks with the Premier League champions over a move for either Baba Rahman or Kenedy, claims Fanatik.

Despite the Premier League transfer window shitting last week, Super Lig clubs can still sign players - with their window not closing until 8 September.

The report claims Gala manager Igor Tudor, who is close friends with Antonio Conte from their Juve days, has informed the board he wants an additional full-back and has drawn up a two-man shortlist and both are Chelsea players.

They even report Galatasaray sporting director Cenk Ergun has already entered talks with Chelsea over loaning Rahman or Kenedy.

Baba Rahman has not been included in Chelsea’s 25-man Premier League squad and he is the most likely to be allowed to leave on loan.

Kenedy,  21, is classed as an Under-21 player at Stamford Bridge and he could well be used as cover at left wing-back after  Conte failed to sign any left-footed defensive cover.

Right wing-back Davide Zappacosta arrived from Torino for €28m on deadline day, but Conte does look short defensively.

The Brazilian Kenedy was sent home from Chelsea’s pre-season tour of China after posting a disparaging video on his Instagram account.

Conte was left fuming and reportedly sanctioned his departure on loan to Newcastle earlier in the summer, but that move never materialised.

Rahman spent last season on loan at Bundesliga outfit Schalke, scoring one goal and providing two assists in 21 appearances, while Kenedy went on loan to Watford, but saw his campaign ruined by a knee injury.

Galatasaray are currently top of Super Lig after winning their first three games of the season.
