Cape Town - Southampton striker Manolo Gabbiadini is enjoying playing in the Premier League, having joined the Saints from Napoli in January.

The Italy international hit the ground running for his new club, scoring six goals in seven appearances, including four in his first three games for the club.

"I came here with a desire to do the best I could, but I'll be honest, not even I believed I could score six times in four matches," the 25-year-old told FourFourTwo.

"When you change teams, change team-mates and change country, you change the way you play.

"It's a different kind of football, but I didn't think I could adjust this easily," he said.

Gabbiadini praised the impact his team-mates and manager Claude Puel have had on him since he arrived in England.

"The secret is that my team-mates, the manager and everyone else at the club all put their faith in me from the start.

"Without my teammates, I wouldn't have done anything. And I need to thank the boss - after I signed, I had my first training on the Wednesday and by the Saturday I was in the starting XI, whereas in Italy this sort of thing is a bit rare," he said.

He went on to explain why the Premier League, as an attacker, was more enjoyable than the Serie A.

"As an attacker, I would say you enjoy yourself more in England. The defenders enjoy themselves less. They often find themselves in a two-against-two situation, two-against-three."

The Saints take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday hoping to turn around a run of three games without a victory.

Kick off is at 14:30.
