Flores: Sad situation for Valencia

Cape Town - Watford boss Quique Flores admits he is saddened by Valencia's current predicament, but has dismissed links with his former club.

Los Che relieved head coach Gary Neville of his duties on Monday after he failed to turn their fortunes around in La Liga since being handed the reins in December last year.

Flores started his professional career at the Mestalla and spent 10 seasons there as a player before he returned to manage the Mediterranean outfit from 2005 to 2007.

However, the Spaniard insists he is focused on his job at Vicarage Road, where he has guided the Hornets to the FA Cup semi-finals and looks to have survived their first season back in the Premier League.

"I'm sad for the situation of Valencia, it's very strange," he said. "I'm sad for the situation of Gary Neville because every time a coach doesn't finish a project it is obviously bad news.

"I'm expecting Valencia will recuperate and have a good run because it is necessary for the club.

"I am completely happy at Watford. I love the fans of Watford and I am really happy with every person who is working for Watford.

"We are a family. We are working in this way and I can say, of course, that I am happy at Watford."
