Manchester - Former
Super Eagles midfielder Emeka Ezeugo wants to see Manchester City
striker Kelechi Iheanacho work a lot harder and feels he has
under-performed this season.
Ezeugo believes the Nigerian youngster had a perfect opportunity to step up and show what he can do when City superstar striker Sergio Aguero was injured.
However, Ezeugo wasn't satisfied with Iheanacho's performances and believes that is why the 20-year-old finds himself on the bench under manager Pep Guardiola.
“Iheanacho in my estimation did not do well for his club in the year under review. I do not know why Nigerians cannot see that.
"The boy had the greatest opportunity ever when Aguero’s almost four-month injury sidelined him, but he never took it," said Ezeugo, according to Soccernet.
“Iheanacho started a lot of games and he under-performed in my assessment. If he had done well, the moment Aguero came back, he should have been the one partnering him. He would not have dropped to the bench again.
“Frankly speaking, nobody is giving Iheanacho the right advice. If he was doing well, he should be Aguero’s partner by now. Goal scoring is an art, if you are not well schooled in it, you will not understand that. Somebody should please advise him on that."
Meanwhile the City striker's father has ruled out the possibility that he will be leaving the club on loan saying that he would remain at the club and fight for a starting berth.
