London - Burnley
boss Sean Dyche says he is still open to the idea of Joey Barton
rejoining his squad, in the wake of new misconduct charges imposed by
the Football Association.
Barton has reportedly agreed to return to Turf Moor, six months after leading them to the Championship title and a return to the English top flight.
However, he subsequently decided to leave the club for Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers, in a spell that ended prematurely due to various off-the-field issues.
Amidst the drama that surrounds one of the most controversial English footballers of the modern Premier League era, the FA have announced he may be fined and suspended from football - for charges of 'placing 1,260 bets over a 10-year period'.
"We're in ongoing discussions with him and his advisers, just to make sure we're all clear where we stand with that," Dyche told Sky Sports.
"If that goes well, then in theory there is a strong possibility that things carry on as normal, with certain caveats, obviously, for certain situations should they arise.
"It depends on timings. We're finding out more about that as we go. There's nothing else we can do about that. We can't rush the FA into doing whatever they need to do."
