Draw at Old Trafford to cost Liverpool title, says Scholes

Cape Town - Paul Scholes thinks Liverpool will look back on their goalless draw at Manchester United in February as the match that cost them the Premier League title.

The Reds are only a point behind Manchester City with two matches to play in the Premier League title race, but most expect the Citizens to win their remaining two matches - against Leicester City and Brighton - and lift the trophy.

Scholes thinks that draw at Old Trafford earlier in the season could be the one Liverpool look back on, while he admits that he won't be feeling sorry for whichever side misses out on the title.

"What these two teams have done, right through the season, has been sensational," Scholes told Premier League Productions.

"I won't feel sorry for either of them... But you've got to admire what they've done.

"When you look back, Liverpool's biggest mistake was not beating Manchester United at Old Trafford.

"When you see how many players United were missing, they then had three injuries. Lingard came on and had to go off.

"Liverpool were really poor that day and you saw the difference the other night when City came to Old Trafford and were dominant and looked a really top team."

Liverpool, ironically, could have lost the title at Old Trafford.
