Dier inks fresh deal with Spurs

London, Sept 13, 2016 (AFP) -Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier signed a new five-year contract with the Premier League club on Tuesday.

Dier has established himself as a key figure in Mauricio Pochettino's side since joining from Sporting Lisbon two years ago and also become a regular in the England team.

Following a season of playing in defence, Pochettino transformed Dier into a defensive midfielder and he has thrived in the role.

"We are delighted to announce that Eric Dier has signed a new contract with the club which will run until 2021," a statement on Tottenham's website announced.

The 22-year-old's contract extension comes shortly after Christian Eriksen committed his long-term future to Tottenham and reports suggest Harry Kane and Kyle Walker will follow in their footsteps by signing new deals soon.

On Wednesday, Tottenham host Monaco at Wembley Stadium in their first Champions League fixture for five years.

Dier, who has 11 England caps, has made 91 appearances for Tottenham and scored six goals.
