Deulofeu open to potential Milan return

Cape Town - Watford forward Gerard Deulofeu could "one day" make a return to Serie A outfit AC Milan, according to the player's agent, Albert Botines.

Deulofeu, 25, spent the second half of the 2016-2017 season on loan with the Rossoneri from Everton, scoring four goals from 17 Serie A appearances.

The man capped four times by Spain then returned to Barcelona as the Catalans exercised their buy-back clause from the Toffees but, after limited game-time with the Nou Camp giants, he penned a loan deal with the Hornets from January 2018 until the end of the campaign.

That became permanent in the summer of 2018 and the former Barca youth team star bagged 12 goals from 34 appearances in all competitions last term.

He has two goals from 12 top-flight outings in 2019-2020, scoring in the club's last two games before the international break - a 2-1 loss to Chelsea and a 2-0 victory over Norwich City.

The pacey winger has become a fans' favourite at Vicarage Road and his form will go a long way in determining which division Quique Sanchez Flores's side play in next season.

It seems as though Deulofeu was also popular at the San Siro and his agent, Albert Botines, refused to rule out a return to the Italian giants.

"He remained very tied to Milan and could return one day but we have to see how things evolve," he told Sky. "Milan fans message him on social media asking him to return. Gerard loves Serie A and Italian football so something might happen in the future."

Watford fans will hope the ex-Sevilla loan star stays in Hertfordshire as he is a player capable of unlocking defences and, with goals at a premium for the Premier League strugglers, they need all the creativity they can get to stave off the threat of relegation.
