Cape Town - Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne has admitted he would "gladly accept" if his team-mates selected him to captain the Premier League champions.
The Belgium international, along with fellow midfielder David Silva, has been linked with taking on the armband following the departure of iconic defender Vincent Kompany.
Manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed he will allow the players to decide Kompany's replacement as skipper and De Bruyne says he would be open to the task if selected by his peers.
"If the team wants me to be captain, or the club does, I would gladly accept it, but I think that's something everybody needs to talk about as a team, as a club," he said.
"This will be talked about when everyone comes back."
