De Bruyne: I'm at City for the long haul

Cape Town - Manchester City playmaker Kevin de Bruyne is relishing his football at the Etihad and is hoping to play for Pep Guardiola's side for as long as possible.

The Belgium international joined the Sky Blues from Wolfsburg in 2015 for a £54.5m transfer fee and penned a six-year contract with the club.

De Bruyne has quickly become a stalwart in Guardiola's team and has netted 25 goals and assisted in a staggering 45 more in only 104 games across all competitions.

"Since Pep came to the club, he plays a style of football I like to play, so it makes it easy as a player," De Bruyne told Sky Sports.

"I like it here, it is the perfect environment and since I came here there has been a lot of trust in me. I like the project they are doing from the moment I came here.

"There was an older team (when I first arrived), they did a lot of transfers, a lot of young people, they are building for the future.

"I like the project and I am really happy here and I see myself being a long time here."
