David Moyes interested in Southampton job

Cape Town - Reports in the United Kingdom claim that David Moyes is interested in speaking to Southampton about their vacant managerial position following the sacking of Mark Hughes.

While there has yet to be any contact between Moyes and Southampton, the former Everton, Manchester United, Sunderland and West Ham boss is keen on returning to the Premier League.

The Saints are in the hunt for a new manager after parting ways with manager Mark Hughes on Monday.

Hughes was given the sack after going 10 matches without a victory in the Premier League.

Moyes has been out of a job since leaving West Ham in May after helping them avoid relegation. The Hammers were languishing in the relegation zone when he took over.

Moyes isn't the only manager interested in the Southampton job, of course. Former Leicester boss Nigel Pearson and Craig Shakespeare are also among those said to be keen.

Pearson, who is currently managing in Belgium, briefly took charge of Southampton in 2008, and helped the then-Championship side avoid relegation on the final day of the season.

Shakespeare, who was Pearson's assistant at Leicester, has been out of work since being sacked by the Foxes in October 2017.
