Crouch emotional after joining 100 club

Cape Town - Stoke City's Peter Crouch expressed his delight at having joined an elite batch of players when he netted his 100th Premier League goal in the 1-1 draw with Everton on Wednesday night.

Crouch's seventh minute tap-in from a Marko Arnautovic cross was, unfortunately for the Potters, cancelled out by a 39th minute Ryan Shawcross own goal, but it did little to diminish the former Liverpool, Tottenham and England striker's enjoyment of his achievement.

With seven goals in 18 appearances for Stoke across all competitions this season, the 36-year-old is enjoying something of a resurgence, after opening his account in the English top flight some 15 years ago.

"There's some fantastic players in that 100 club, so to be among them is great for me personally," said a beaming Crouch, after the match.

"The minute it went in, it's a great feeling."

Crouch celebrated his goal with his famous robot dance, that he has not performed since 2007.

"It was a bit of nostalgia, pulling it out. I was under a lot of pressure," he explained.

"It was a bit stiff to be honest. It's been 10 years, I think I'll have to retire it. Weddings and parties only now."

He added: "I've had a few messages, lots of friends and family absolutely buzzing for me.

"(It's) quite emotional and nice to get in there because there's a lot of players that I look up to.

"There's been some great goals along the way and also some scrappy ones, but we'll take them."

Crouch took 419 Premier League games to reach this milestone and joins a club frequented by the likes of Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Ian Wright and Matt le Tissier to name but a few.
