Cook extends Cherries deal

Cape Town - Bournemouth defender Steve Cook has committed to the club by signing a new three-year deal at Dean Court after a commendable debut season in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old Englishman has been with the Cherries since 2011, when they were in League One, and scored four goals in 31 appearances to help the club to a 16th-place finish in England's top tier.

"We are delighted to secure Steve's future with us for a further three years," said chief executive Neill Blake.

"He has been a fundamental part of the team's success this season, and we look forward to sharing many more successful years together.

"It was great to be able to get this deal sorted so quickly and secure the future of such a key asset ahead of our second season in the Premier League."

"I am really pleased to have it sorted before the summer," the player himself added. "Going down to the last year of your contract is a funny one.

"It wasn't a tough decision for me to stay. I always wanted to stay here and now I will now be lucky enough to do that for another three years."
