Cole: I still laugh at Arsenal's trophy drought

Cape Town - Ashley Cole has admitted that he takes some pleasure thinking about how successful he has been over the last 10 years, compared to former club Arsenal.

The left-back, who currently plays for LA Galaxy, was part of the Gunners' 2003/04 "Invincibles" team, but rejected a new £55,000-a-week Arsenal contract in 2006 to join London rivals Chelsea for £90,000-a-week instead.

During his time at the Blues, Cole won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, and Europa League, while Arsenal only won two FA Cups.

The 36-year-old told ITV's panel show "Play to the Whistle": "I had a great time [at Arsenal], I missed the old players that were there but I moved on and won every trophy I could. I wouldn't look back and say I regretted it, no.

"If I'm honest, yeah - I still think to this day, I laugh to myself.

"I had a lot of history there and I think the way I left was maybe a bit dodgy, but the lack of respect they showed me as well."

He added: "Maybe I did things in the wrong way. But when I look back at it now I think there were a lot of parties I could blame.

"But it's gone now, and it's 10 years down the line."
