Cape Town - Manchester City have completed the signing of forward Nolito on a four-year contract after meeting the £13.8m release clause in the wingers contract at Celta Vigo.

The Spain international is the third signing under new boss Pep Guardiola, following the arrivals of Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund and Australian midfielder Aaron Mooy.

The 29-year-old played under the tutelage of Guardiola during his three-year spell at Barcelona - though spent much of his time with the Catalans' B side, before leaving the Nou Camp for Benfica in 2011.

During his time with the Portuguese giants, he scored 16 goals in 63 starts, before being loaned out to Granada for six months.

Nolito subsequently sealed a permanent deal with Celta Vigo, where he spent the last three seasons and earned his debut for the national team aged 28.

Speaking on Manchester City's official website, the player stated his admiration for Guardiola and highlighted his vast knowledge of the game.

"It's just about trying to play my normal game and let's hope that I can help Manchester City to win games," he said.

"I think that Pep Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world. He knows a lot about the game and he's going to help me progress as a player and I'm sure he'll get the best out of me."

Nolito started in all four Spain's Euro 2016 matches and will don the No.9 shirt for the Blues this season.
