Cape Town - Reports
are emerging that both Manchester City and Real Madrid are ready to
smash the transfer record for Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe.
According to Goal, City are trying to rush through a deal as soon as possible before Madrid can raise the necessary funds with the sale of Gareth Bale to Manchester United.
The transfer fee being mentioned by Marca is £160 million, which Madrid have agreed to with Monaco, but ESPN FC reports that City are willing to match anything the Spanish side are offering.
The Citizens have already bought Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy from the French side, for £42.5m and £49.3m respectively, but will have to break the world record to win this bidding war.
