Chelsea youngster joins Bournemouth on loan

London - Chelsea defender Nathan Ake has joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan, the Blues announced on Wednesday.

The Dutchman, who can also play in midfield, spent last season on loan at Watford and made 24 Premier League appearances for the Hornets.

"Nathan Ake will spend the 2016-17 season on loan at Bournemouth," said a statement on the Chelsea website.

"The 21-year-old moves to the south coast having also spent last season in the Premier League at Watford, where his performances at left-back won the club's young player of the year award and helped them reach the FA Cup semi-final."

Netherlands Under-21 international Ake signed a new five-year deal at Stamford Bridge last year and has played 12 times for the Chelsea first team.
