Chelsea outcast Drinkwater joins Burnley on season-long loan

Cape Town - Danny Drinkwater has joined Burnley on a season-long loan deal from Premier League giants Chelsea.

The midfielder has failed to make an impact at the Blues following his £30 million move from Leicester City in 2017.

The 29-year-old only managed to make 23 appearances in all competitions with his last outing against Manchester City in the Community Shield before the start of the 2018/19 Premier League campaign.

Burnley open their campaign against Southampton on Saturday (16:00 kick-off) while Chelsea are away to rivals Manchester United on Sunday (17:30 kick-off).

The Premier League starts on Friday with last seasons runners-up Liverpool entertaining Premier League returnees Norwich City.
