Cech: Spurs 'having their best season'

London - Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech admits Tottenham are on the up as Sunday's derby win means they will finish the season above their rivals.

Gunners fans traditionally celebrate 'St Totteringham's Day' on the day they secure the points to finish above Spurs, but a 2-0 win at White Hart Lane ensured that this season will be different.

"We met a team that was full of confidence, well organised and they are having their best season," Cech told his club's website.

"I think today that showed, that little bit of more confidence and quality on their side. The goals obviously made a big difference.

"When you are 2-0 down against a team having their best season, who are full of confidence, it’s going to always be difficult and it was difficult for us to get back into the game.

"It hurts because it was a huge game for both teams. They needed to win to keep their title chances alive. We needed to win to keep our Champions League ... [hopes] alive. We needed three points and in the end we have none.

"Tottenham finishing above us or doing better is one thing, but I think the most important thing for the club, for the players, for everybody is to reach your own targets, not to worry about what the others are doing."
