Cape Town - Burnley are close to ensuring the return of striker Jay Rodriguez from West Bromwich Albion after activating his release clause.
The Clarets have held an interest in the one-time England international for some time, but it now appears they are closing in on his signature after they had an offer of £10 million accepted by the Baggies.
Rodriguez had been due to head to Spain with the rest of the Albion squad for a pre-season training camp, but it is believed he was not on the plane and has instead remained in England to negotiate a return to Turf Moor.
The forward came through the youth ranks with Burnley and went on to make over 120 appearances for the Lancashire club before joining Southampton for a reported £7 million in 2012.
It is believed Rodriguez is keen on a return to his former club, who can also provide him the added bonus of Premier League football, although Albion do still remain hopeful that he could opt to remain at The Hawthorns.
