Cape Town - Burnley are close to ensuring the return of
striker Jay Rodriguez from West Bromwich Albion after activating his release clause.
The Clarets have held an interest in the one-time England
international for some time, but it now appears they are closing in on his
signature after they had an offer of £10 million accepted by the Baggies.
Rodriguez had been due to head to Spain with the rest of the
Albion squad for a pre-season training camp, but it is believed he was not on
the plane and has instead remained in England to negotiate a return to Turf
The forward came through the youth ranks with Burnley and
went on to make over 120 appearances for the Lancashire club before joining
Southampton for a reported £7 million in 2012.
It is believed Rodriguez is keen on a return to his former
club, who can also provide him the added bonus of Premier League football,
