Bundesliga midfielder on Newcastle radar

Cape Town - Newcastle have been linked to Nurnberg defensive midfielder Patrick Erras but other Bundesliga sides are understood to be interested.

Bild report that Newcastle are interested in the 24-year-old, who has been with Nurnberg since his youth days and is seriously considering a move this summer.

'My contract expires in 2020, of course leaving crosses your mind,' said Erras.

'I can confirm that clubs from the Premier League and the Bundesliga have already approached my advisor. But my first point of contact will always be the club.'

Erras has recently been restored to the Nurnberg line-up after being virtually ignored by previous coach Michael Kollner, and since March he has started every game for the relegation-threatened club.

'It hurt me a lot that I almost did not play any role with Michael Kollner no matter how hard I trained,' he added.

'The importance of playing practice is evident in my opinion in recent weeks.'

Erras is likely to be available on the cheap to other Bundesliga clubs this summer but Nurnberg will see any Premier League interest in their player as a chance to hike the price up to £5 million.
