Brighton sign Chelsea starlet Brown on loan

London - Premier League new-boys Brighton & Hove Albion signed Chelsea forward Izzy Brown on a season-long loan deal on Tuesday.

Brown, 20, helped Huddersfield Town win promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs while on loan with the Yorkshire club last season.

Huddersfield were keen to re-sign Brown, but instead he will be playing for Chris Hughton's Brighton.

"The natural progression for Izzy, having enjoyed such a successful season in the Championship last season, was to step up to the Premier League - and we are delighted he will be doing that with us, here at Brighton," Hughton said.

"He is a player with great potential and will bring a different dimension to our attacking options for the season ahead, alongside our existing strikers."

Brown is Brighton's sixth close-season signing following the arrivals of Pascal Gross, Josh Kerr, Mathew Ryan, Markus Suttner and Mathias Normann.

Prior to joining Brighton, Brown, who has made only one appearance for Chelsea, signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge until 2021.
