Cape Town - Nathan Ake's first half header gave Bournemouth a deserved 1-0 victory over Stoke City in Saturday's Premier League clash in Staffordshire.
Bournemouth were in control from the start and perhaps deserved a penalty in the first 20 minutes. However, they soon made their dominance count when Nathan Ake headed home in the 26th minute.
Despite a poor first period, Ryan Shawcross nearly grabbed an equaliser but he saw his effort cleared off the line in the 40th minute. Bojan Krkic then had the home team's best chance but he saw his second half penalty hit the crossbar.
The Cherries were then largely untroubled for the remainder of the second stanza with Jack Wilshere impressive in central midfield. There were few alarm bells in the remaining stages, although Xherdan Shaqiri and Jonathan Walters did have chances to equalise late on.
