Bordeaux in negotiations with Gunners over Koscielny

Cape Town - Bordeaux manager Paulo Sousa has admitted that the club are in negotiations with Arsenal about the potential signing of defender Laurent Koscielny.

The Frenchman looks set to depart north London after nine years at the club but the Gunners are looking for a fee, some suggest as much as £8m, although the player feels he should be allowed to go for nothing after giving the club such long service.

Bordeaux are one of a number of clubs keen to take the 33-year-old and Sousa says they are working hard to get the deal done.

"I have already said it, he is not our player.

"He is a player that every team would like to have because of his experience, the quality of his play and everything that he represents in football," he told reporters.

"We are in the market for central defenders because Jules Koundé has left and so we are looking for another player to replace him.

"All talks are ongoing but once again he is not our player.

"We are working hard to give ourselves the chance to have a player with his characteristics."
