Big Premier League opener for Lampard v Solskjaer

Cape Town - Chelsea have finally made the announcement of Frank Lampard’s return to the club as head coach, official.

The 41-year-old inked a three-year deal with the Blues after ending his reign with Championship outfit Derby County.

13 facts about the Premier League great:

- Lampard won 11 major honours as a Chelsea player, including three Premier League titles and two European trophies.

- Only three players (Ron Harris - 795, Peter Bonetti - 729, John Terry - 717) have made more appearances for Chelsea in the club’s history than Frank Lampard, who appeared 648 times between August 2001 and May 2014.

- He holds the record for scoring the most goals for Chelsea in the club’s history, scoring 211 goals between 2001 and 2014; he has also scored the most Premier League goals for the club (147) and provided the most assists (90).
