Bayern linked with Pochettino swoop

Cape Town - Bayern Munich are again being linked with a move for Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as doubts surround the future of Niko Kovac.

Kovac remains under pressure at the Allianz Arena following an inconsistent start to the season, which sees them sitting second in the Bundesliga standings, just behind Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Croatian guided Bayern to the title last season, when just pipping Borussia Dortmund, but that has not been enough to stop the rumours he could be axed if things do not improve.

There has also been talk that all is not well behind the scenes, with the dressing room unhappy with his methods and style of play. Kovac’s handling of club legend Thomas Muller has also been frowned upon and the powers that be could decide to wield the axe sometime soon.

If they do then Pochettino is said to be high on the wanted list. The Argentinean has worked wonders during his time with Tottenham, reaching the Champions League final last season before losing to Liverpool.

However, they too have started poorly this season and it has been suggested that Pochettino could be in need of a fresh challenge at another top club.

He is said to have turned down some big jobs in the past but due to the situation at Spurs, could now be tempted to move on if Bayern did make a move.

Reports claim that Pochettino will be the first person they call if they do make a decision to get rid of Kovac in the near future as the hierarchy are big admirers.
