Cape Town - Matthijs de Ligt has discussed the possibility of joining Liverpool in the future.
De Ligt has emerged as one of the brightest young talents across Europe during his time as Ajax.
Named Ajax captain as a teenager, the centre-half has attracted reported interest from Barcelona, Manchester United and numerous other clubs.
Ajax director of football Marc Overmars, wanted by Arsenal, says the 19-year-old would be his first signing at whichever club he worked for.
Netherlands team-mate Virgil van Dijk has also praised his compatriot, with De Ligt himself returning the favour.
"Virgil is a player who has experience in the top leagues," he told Goal.com.
"Of course, you would want to learn from him. It’s very helpful playing alongside him in the Dutch team."
Asked whether he could envisage being his team-mate at club level, De Ligt replied: "It could happen.
"He plays for Liverpool, a good club, but I’m not focused on them. I focus on Ajax and then I'll see where I end up."
