Atletico Madrid join race to sign Alexis Sanchez

Madrid - Atletico Madrid are the latest side to be linked with a move for Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez, with Juventus and Inter Milan also interested.

Sanchez seems set to depart Old Trafford this summer after a lacklustre campaign, with the Chilean slipping down the pecking order when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho as manager in December.

Atleti are on the hunt for a new forward after Antoine Griezmann confirmed he would depart this summer and former Barcelona and Arsenal man Sanchez is one of their top targets according to Spanish reports - but a deal may not be straightforward.

United are unlikely to command a huge fee for the 30-year-old despite the fact he still has three years left on his deal but his reported £500 000-a-week wages could be a stumbling block.

Los Colchoneros will also face competition from Italian pair Juve and Inter Milan, although like Atleti they would struggled to match his current wages and Sanchez may have to accept a pay-cut if he is to depart United this summer.
