Arsenal see Upamecano offer rebuffed

Cape Town - Arsenal have seen a big-money offer for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano rejected by the Bundesliga club, according to reports in Germany.

The Gunners are on the lookout for a new defender before the transfer window shuts with Laurent Koscielny wanting to leave the club, while many fans are hopeful that a player can take Shkodran Mustafi's place in the side.

Arsenal have spent big already this summer with the signing of Nicolas Pepe and they could be about to splash the cash again.

German newspaper Bild (via Sport Witness) claims they have submitted an offer of more than €60 million for Upamecano but it has been rejected.

The France under-21 international has a release clause in his contract for €100 million and RB Leipzig are looking for a deal closer to the €80m mark.

Barcelona have also been linked with Upamecano this summer - while Manchester United have also been credited with interest in past - and the report suggests that the Gunners could come back in with an improved bid before the deadline.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
