Arnautovic: Nothing personal against Hughes

Cape Town - West Ham United forward Marko Arnautovic says scoring a brace against Southampton had nothing to do with settling a score with his former manager, Mark Hughes.

The Austria international helped the Hammers to a 3-0 win over the Saints on Saturday as David Moyes' side moved five points clear of the relegation zone.

Arnautovic and Hughes were involved in a touchline spat earlier this season during their time together at Stoke, but the 28-year-old said his two goals were all about helping the east Londoners stay out of the bottom three.

"I respect Mark Hughes and what he's done for me but I heard some things when he was talking about me and they were not good things," Arnautovic told the Mirror.

"I'm only doing my job, and if I score against Hughes' team, it's nothing personal. I try to score in every game and I don't feel sorry for anybody: If we win and I score that's fine, nothing else matters.

"I don't care what he says, I perform on the pitch and I try to let my feet do the talking.

"Of course I'm grateful what he did for me at Stoke when he was my coach, but if he wants to say bad things about me, that's up to him."
