Aguero joy at reaching Premier League milestone

Cape Town - Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has expressed his delight at becoming the second-fastest player to bag 150 goals in the Premier League.

City's all-time leading scorer reached the milestone on Sunday in the 6-1 hammering of Southampton at the Etihad Stadium to take his tally for the season to seven league goals.

The landmark came in Aguero's 217th top-flight appearance, which is only surpassed by Newcastle legend Alan Shearer, who managed it in 212 matches.

The Argentina international now shares the lead with Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Chelsea attacking midfielder Eden Hazard in the race for the Golden Boot.

"Very happy for this win and for scoring my 150th goal in the Premier League with this great club," Aguero said on Twitter after the match.

"A big thanks to all the team and fans for their support. And we're going for even more!"

The 30-year-old striker only trails Wayne Rooney (183) and Thierry Henry (175) in goals scored for a single Premier League club.
