Cape Town - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits that he needs to bring in another defender or risk having a hole in his defence if injury strikes again.
The Frenchman finds himself in a difficult position, as he does not want to risk being short on players but expects a struggle to find a good deal for a centre-back in the notoriously difficult January transfer market.
Mathieu Debuchy recently added his name to Arsenal’s injury list, and Wenger knows that another injury would make life difficult.
"It's too risky," Football411 quotes Wenger as saying. "Of course, if we have another injury or two, we will struggle."
"We have made enquiries and then you have a second handicap of who wants to sell their best players, especially a central defender, in the middle of the season. They say 'OK, come back in June or July and maybe yes'.
"It's not a supermarket where you go in and buy a defender. It’s a market that is very restricted, players who can strengthen the best ten teams in Europe, you don't find many and it's the same for everybody. We are a big attraction, of course we are, but if it was easy we would do it."
After beating the champions Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday, Arsenal now turn their attention to the FA Cup fourth round where they will meet Brighton & Hove Albion.
