Cape Town - After two impressive pre-season performances and much transfer speculation surrounding his new squad, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has reiterated that he won't but players just for the sake of it.
SkySports quote the new manger as saying "I don’t buy players for the sake of it. I buy players to improve my selection."
“First, I must see what I need in all the positions from the system we shall play and, at this moment, I don’t know for sure.” said the new United manager.
Van Gaal was responding to the pressure from some quarters that suggest Manchester United need wholesale changes to their squad.
The former Bayern Munich man, known to do things his own way, rubbished those reports and insisted that any influx of players will only considered after carefully analysing his squad of players.
Van Gaal is favouring the 3-5-2 formation that secured the Dutch third spot in the 2014 Soccer World Cup and he thinks the same system suits Manchester United with the current players at his disposal.
Manchester United face Swansea City at Old Trafford in the opening fixture of the 2014/15 English Premiership season.
