United target Villa pair

Cape Town - Manchester United are considering making a joint bid for Aston Villa as the Old Trafford club looks to bolster its options in defense and in the midfield.

Gossip website caughtoffside are reporting that Manchester United are interested in bringing two Villains to the club in January.

Ron Vlaar and Fabian Delph, both key to the Aston Villa cause, are being linked with an interest from Manchester United.

Despite United's summer spending being in excess of £150 million, the club are lining up a £22 million joint bid for both players.

Vlaar, who played under van Gaal at the World Cup in Brazil, is yet to sign a new deal with Aston Villa and comes as a cheaper alternative to other defensive options.

Delph, recently called up to the England national side, was a youth target of Sir Alex Ferguson and may yet join the Red Devils.

Manchester United are willing to let Tom Cleverley make his loan deal permanent for a cut-price fee should Aston Villa allow the duo to leave the club.
