United make Hummels bid - reports

Cape Town - Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has made an approach to bring Germany international Mats Hummels to Old Trafford.

The Express report that Manchester United have made a move for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels.

The 26-year-old defender has been on United's radar for some time but reports in Italy now claim that Manchester United have tested Dortmund's resolve with an opening offer for a January move.

Jurgen Klopp has continuously denied that Hummels will be leaving the club but an offer of anywhere between £30 million and £50 million is believed to have been made.

Dortmund are struggling to get out of the relegation zone in the Bundesliga with suggestions that Hummels is agitated with the poor performances shown by a number of teammates.

Dortmund are in 17th place on the league table and are a massive 30 points behind league leaders Bayern Munich.
