Toure: No rifts in City squad

Johannesburg - Kolo Toure insists there are no rifts in the camp after calling on the Manchester City players to start taking more responsibility.

City's surprise 2-1 defeat at Wolves on Saturday was a second straight loss for Roberto Mancini's side, who now trail Premier League leaders Chelsea by eight points.

The wealth of high-profile players at Mancini's disposal has led to questions as to how the Italian will be able to successfully manage all the egos in his dressing room.

Vincent Kompany and Emmanuel Adebayor were involved in a heated exchange after the Wolves game, but Toure is adamant there are no major issues.

"No, not at all," he said in response to suggestions of a rift.

"We are a team and in any team there are problems. But the important thing is to try to resolve them in the dressing room and the training camp."

Toure believes they must recover quickly and said: "We know we are a big team now. Everyone expects us to be at the top.

"We need to take more responsibility. When you play for one of the richest clubs in the world, you just need to deliver on the pitch.

"The criticism is good because that will makes us work harder."

City travel to face Lech Poznan on Thursday in the Europa League before meeting West Brom at the Hawthorns on Sunday.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
